Jacques Audiard’s first Spanish-language film
Narrative
In Mexico, a lawyer receives an unexpected offer to help a feared cartel boss retire from his business and disappear forever by becoming the woman he's always dreamed of being.. IMDb Editor Arno Kazarian offers up quick takes on 12 movies he screened at the 2024 New York Film Festival, including Anora and the dangerous, curiously erotic Misericordia.. A French title card misspells the Indian city as "Dehli"..
Original movie with a lot of creativity
Featured in Latino Slant: La Bamba Remake, Tarantino has a BIG Mouth, the SPICE of Jenna & Selena Shocks! (2024). El TrioWritten by Camille, Clément Ducol and Jacques AudiardPerformed by Karla Sofía Gascón, Selena Gomez and Zoe Saldana.
The whole basis of this movie just feels wrong and without respect to those people
The good: you get some (little) insight of transgenders, spanish musical singing (sounds much better then english), actress zoe (rita) and karla, the setting (mexico) and the way you can feel the mexico vibe, some parts of the story where you can clearly feel the quality of the director, the movie is very original. The bad: the biggest problem is that they portray a drugs mafia lord, responsible for 10000 deaths or missing, later on as a good house wife with a good moral sense. That is just a big slap in the face of all the people who lost someone because of the drug wars in reality.
What is worse?
It is too long, selena gomez (singers are not automatically good actresses, she is probably chosen because of her looks), all main actresses are woman (doesnt work in the film industry), script, story line (many times doesn’t make any sense ) and a clear goal or motive is missing. What is the point or goal of any of the 3 main actresses of this movie? There is none.
Just a 6 out of 10
